Kernel 2.6.5 Hangs During Boot

Howdy everybody. I am trying to get this new kernel going with my new system, but it isn't going all that great. During boot, it just hangs after the message...

Code:

ACPI: Processor [CPU0] (supports C1)
I have the A7N8X Deluxe Motherboard with an AMD Athlon XP 1800+ Processor.

"I have the A7N8X Deluxe Motherboard with an AMD Athlon XP 1800+ Processor."

When you compiled the new kernel did you specify the CPU model parameters correctly? They are among the first parameters in the config file.

Yes, I specified the AMD Athlon / Duron... I will double check to see if there is an Athlon XP option...

Are you sure your mother board is ACPI and not APM?
