Question kernel 2.6.35.7 for centos 5.5

Hi All,

Has anyone compiled kernel 2.6.35.7 for centos 5.5 x86?
I am compiling the kernel for the first time.

Code:
make clean
make mrproper
cp /boot/config-2.6.18-194.el5config /usr/src/linux-2.6.35.7/.config
make menuconfig
Then from Load an Alternate Configuration File I choose .config
General Setup ---> () Local version - append to kernel release. I use -ma

Saved the changes.

Code:
make rpm
Installed the new kernel

Code:
mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.6.35.7-ma.img 2.6.18.3-ma
accordingly modified the menu.lst file too.

But failed to boot the system.

Please find the error message in the image file attached.

Sorry guys this should be under http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...nux-kernel-70/

Hi,

Now days all these commands dont need to be run;

just do this

cd linux-kernel-source
make all
make modules_install
make install

It will make entry in grub.conf and boot from new compiled kernel

Hi All,

As per the above URL by adding CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED_V2=y to .config file solved the problem.
