kernel 2.5.65 and module loading

Just compiled and booted 2.5.65. Booted ok, but no modules.
The error was:
"function QM_MODULES not implemented"

Anybody got module loading to work in 2.5.65?
Any body have a fix or some info?
Thanks

Go to the gentoo forums - there's a long thread about 2.5.65.

Since 2.5.50ish there's been a change in the modules format and the way they are handled.
Search google for module-init-tools, it should bring up relevant threads from mailing lists.

module-init-tools was indeed the key :)

Its running like a top. I was especially interested in this one because of the desktop interactivity improvements and it does seem faster when switching desktops.
The only problem I've noticed so far in testing it is that xmms skips a little when galeon is loading a page but that might be due my having galeon reniced to -3. The new module tools do not work with older kernels but since they install in /usr/local/sbin/ there is a way back.
All in all it was pretty painless, the module init tools compiled and installed no problem.

Heres some links if anyone is feeling adventurous:

Just a caveat here for those who are thinking of ckecking out 2.5.65, ide-scsi support when loaded as a module segfaults after some very verbose error loops and when compiled in stops the kernel from booting.
Its a known issue, so no cd burning if you have an ATAPI burner under this kernel.
DAMN! everything else was working so great too :(
