Question kernel 2.4.3 and sun software products

Hello Linux - friends

I'm in trouble with my system configuration since I installed a new kernel version 2.4.3, which I needed for better DVD and sound support.
My problem is that afterwards, staroffice and forte didn't work any longer, terminating with the statement "failed to load necessary components".

How do I get rid of these annoyments?

Thank you all for your help!

Not sure what exactly you are missing, my only thought could be to recompile the kernel with the options you think that you need and then some more on top. (Boring and long-winded I know!)

Have you checked the StarOffice Docs?
