Question Kernal 2.4.22

Ok, I've downloaded patch-2.4.22.bz2. Now what do I do? I tried using the ./patch-2.4.22.bz2 command, but it says Permission denined. So I did properties and got permission, but it still doesn't work. How do I do this? I'm using Slackware 9. THanks!

I have not done this before, but I think that you have to first decompress the file using bzip2. Then you can try to patch it to the kernel.
