Unhappy kernael panic--while building kernel


hi friends

i have redhat ES 4 in my system.I was building kernel 2.6.27.6 ..My previous kernel is 2.6-9-5.
after building kernel when ibooted through new kernel then i found following error messages.

I don't really know if this is the answer, but you're using the same initrd for the two kernels.

a late reply
now i tried to make new initrd as follows but it is giving following error message...

[root@virus linux-2.6.27.6]# mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.6.27.6.img 2.6.27.6
No module ata_piix found for kernel 2.6.27.6, aborting.

I don't know much about mkinitrd, but that command looks wrong. Check out the mkinitrd man page. As an example, I had to run this:

mkinitrd -c -k 2.6.27.7-smp -f ext3 -r /dev/hda1 -m mbcache:jbd:ext3 -o /boot/initrd.gz
Yours will be different in minor details, of course.
