Kermit Script to Automate FTP SSL/TLS

Greetings all.
Here's what I'm trying to do. I've got a script that sets up my .pem key and certificates and then tries to open an FTP session to IBM Exchange. When i run the commands one by one it will work. Except that after I initially connect after setting up my keys I run the command
FTP OPEN HOST GOES HERE /USER:username /PASSWORDassword
I get prompted for the passphrase for my encrypted SSL/TSL keys before the actual username and password are taken, IF I enter the passphrase for my Key the script continues normally, How can i get around this?! I need to totally automate this job...
All suggestions welcome.
