KDPF password
I bought a CD with material on using pdf. When I try to read it using kdpf in Mepis or Ubuntu, it demands a password. How do you get a password?
When I use Windows Vista, I can read it without the need for a password. Xdpf, although installed, does nothing when I try to open a file with it. |
You can go in the preferences and disable the password. To be PDF compliant, any PDF reader have to respect the fact that a PDF may ask for a password, but as it is unencrypted, you can simply bypass it.
KPDF is dead by the way, you should use Okular now, it is much better and have great annotation support. |
Not sure how this will help, but one of the more popular PDF readers is Evince. Also, Adobe Reader is available for Linux.
|
When I tried Okular, I got this:
Could not open media:/sr0/Sunset_Possibilities_(SE). Reason: Could not start process Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'media'. As for KPDF where do you find preferences? I am not using a browser, I am trying to read a CD. |
Evince did not work either. I can scarcely think of any other thing that can be done with Windows but not linux.

In KDPF menu; settings; configure kpdf
|
As root, I tried to open /usr/share/menu/kpdf
The response was "permission denied". |
