KDPF password

I bought a CD with material on using pdf. When I try to read it using kdpf in Mepis or Ubuntu, it demands a password. How do you get a password?

When I use Windows Vista, I can read it without the need for a password. Xdpf, although installed, does nothing when I try to open a file with it.

You can go in the preferences and disable the password. To be PDF compliant, any PDF reader have to respect the fact that a PDF may ask for a password, but as it is unencrypted, you can simply bypass it.

KPDF is dead by the way, you should use Okular now, it is much better and have great annotation support.

Not sure how this will help, but one of the more popular PDF readers is Evince. Also, Adobe Reader is available for Linux.

When I tried Okular, I got this:
Could not open media:/sr0/Sunset_Possibilities_(SE). Reason: Could not start process Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'media'.

As for KPDF where do you find preferences? I am not using a browser, I am trying to read a CD.

Evince did not work either. I can scarcely think of any other thing that can be done with Windows but not linux.

In KDPF menu; settings; configure kpdf

As root, I tried to open /usr/share/menu/kpdf
The response was "permission denied".
