Kdevelop Speed/reliability/useablility
I was working in Kdevelop 3.2.0 some, and it was slooooow. Loading and saving took forever, sometimes even needing to bring up a window where I could watch the file's saving progress -.- (Kate/terminal worked faster). Most of the features seemed pointless. I got some work done in it (tabs were the best part). I'm looking through the online docs atm, wishing they were offline an in the prog itself. Anyone have any ideas on a better use of the features and speeding it up?
BTW, the files I was loading were part of the source for Smaug FUSS 1.6, so before anyone mentions file size, it wasn't that. Side note: Also, is there something I could do to add tabs to Kate? |
Hmm, that's strange. I'm just learning C++ now (I've got a book "Teach Yourself C++ In 5 Days" - it's meant for Borland C++Builder but Borland seems to follow ANSI standards pretty well so most of the stuff is the same) and KDevelop runs just fine on my 400mHz laptop with 128MB RAM.
Do you have other things running in the background? Also, what GUI are you using (KDE or GNOME)? |
I use KDE (Gnome doesn't like something on my comp, and KDE just works) as my GUI. I might ge Blackbox or another light GUI, but I don't think that is the problem. This is one of those days I wish they made KDE, KDE Light, and make a full and lite version of programs like that...

Hmm. . . i'm also using KDE. . . that's odd that it's so slow for you.

I cann't figure what it could be. Anyone have some helpful info, please tell.
