kdetv: Cannot change "User Interface"

I installed kdetv using apt-get (I use a distro based on Debian) and the software is working fine except for one detail. I cannot change anything on the "User Interface" under "Configure kdetv". Whenever I change the settings and click "Aplly", everything goes back to the way they were before. What I really wanted to do was activate the "Always on top" button, but it is deactivated as soon as I click "Apply". My TV card is Pinnacle PCTV. Any suggestions?
