KDE4 Application adding: How to do it manually?

Hi folks!

I've been searching around in KDE4 for about two days now trying to figure out how to add Openoffice into my kicker menu (I installed it into /opt). I tried the Menu Updating Tool, but all it did was a short auto scan and found everything I didn't want it to. The problem is that nowhere in the settings dialog or in any other app I tried does KDE4 allow you to add an application to the Kicker menu manually. What have I missed? all I want is to be able to start Openoffice without running a konsole.

TIA

Menu editing..

Hi,
I do that in KDE 3.5 as follows.
Open menu editor by right clicking on _K_ icon in panel.
In that there is an add option.
There we can put all the required things like icon, name description etc.
Finally in the command to be run, give the file which is run to open openoffice. " which openoffice " command in konsole will give that file.
I am not sure whether this is what you actually want. And I hope it is same in KDE4. Please correct me if it is not so.
-Cheers

I haven't tried KDE 4 yet, does the answer work as well in it as it does in 3?

Yes. Works just the same.

I hoped guessed/hoped that was the case, thanks for the confirmation.
