Recentry I upgraded to KDE3 from KDE2.x. When I first started the new kde version, I got this first-time desktop wizzard, which lets you set some properties of kde. This wizzard is supposed to appear only once, but I get it every time I start KDE.
Can someone tell me where KDE should register that I'm not a first-time user? I guess there's some sort of a config-file somewhere in my home dir, but I can't find it.
Please help, because it's very annoying to get this wizzard everytime I start kde.
My problem with KDE3 on Mandrake 8.1 is that the initial auto login mode goes to KDE2. If I log out and log in again it goes to KDE3. If I log out and log in as root, it will only go to KDE2 even if I select KDE3 on the GUI log-in. How do I made it forget KDE2?
Thank you for the link. I have looked at it, but can't find the answer (I may be blind!).
What I can't understand, is why I can't set the default to KDE3.
Whe I first start up, the auto-boot takes me into KDE2. If I log out of KDE2, it auto boots to KDE3. If I then log out of KDE3, and login again as root, I can only get KDE2, regardless of whether I select KDE2 or KDE3 on the login. I can select gnome ok, but not KDE3!
This seems to be a mandrake issue, I'm running kde3 on slack with no problems at all ( I really like the "liquid edition" splash screen too ). I've even got kde2/qt2 still installed so I can run quanta.
so sorry Johng but i didn't hear before about ur bug
but r u using the option in mandrake whish let it log in as a dwfined user automati. or the window appears before log in and let u choose which user u want to use
I've just installed the rpms for Mandrake 8.2 and although the Mandrake website says you can select KDE 2.X or 3 from the kdm login screen, it automaticaly boots into KDE3! But it's coped with the mosfet liquid rpms though.
Try booting from a text screen.
It's early days for version 3 but it's looking promising....
