KDE Trinity question

I thought I saw some forums for KDE Trinity somewhere on the internet once, but I can't find them now, so I'll post this Trinity question here. Has anyone had a problem changing the desktop behavior settings related to displaying media? In the list of what kind of media should be displayed on the desktop, I click both mounted and unmounted hard drives, but when I click OK, the window disappears abruptly without making changes to the desktop. This has happened repeatedly. I've thought it was a bug, but perhaps soms setting needs to be changed. Does anyone know how to fix this? Otherwise I'm abandoning Trinity; no reason to stick with desktop software that won't do such a simple thing as making my hard drives display on the desktop.

You can mount the HDDs with a console command: mount /dev/sdx /mnt/media and so on.

Thanks, and I know the command, but that's beside the point. My problem is making the hard drive icons appear on the desktop.
