KDE taskbar notification?

in windows XP, if you've got a window minimized (an instant message let's say) and it is modified (like if someone sends you an IM), the tab representing the window in the taskbar will start to blink. in mac os x, the button representing the window in the taskbar starts to bounce.

either way, it's pretty handy to know when you've gotten an IM or an email without having to maximize the window all the time to check.

i haven't found any setting in KDE that enables this sort of thing. is there a setting or plugin that does this?

gaim in not a kde app. The gaim programmers have implemented the URGENT message in the latest release but it is buggy and sometimes the window will continue to flash after you have clicked it. Upgrade gaim.

Hello everyone,

I have modified the notification plugin in a previous version of gaim (before the URGENT message implementation) so that it changes the text from the normal title to something else (set in options) and back. It was a form of flashing and worked rather well. The plugin didnt work in newer versions of gaim so I have updated it to Gaim 1.0. Let me know if anyone wants it and I will post it.

The only problem with the new URGENT hint is that KDE/XWindows/Something only flashes the taskbar 3-4 times, then the tab just stays highlighted. This will not get my attention unless I happen to look at it during those 3-4 flashes, so I want to upadate the plugin so that it toggles the URGENT message as well as the window title. For some reason when I toggle the URGENT message off, nothing happens. The tab stays highlighted as if it were still URGENT. It doesnt go away until the window actually recieves focus then loses it again. Does someone know if this is a KDE limitation or an XWindow limitation or what?
