is it possible to enable icon zooming for the panels i mean the buttons on the
task bar ?

icon zooming works only for the icons represented within the panels, why would you want the whole panel to expand?

If you go into the controll center under display (or something to that effect, I'm not on my linux box right now) there should be an option for icon zooming, it only works however if the icons are of a certain size, usually fairly small, or at least thats how it is on my box.
