KDE - screensaver doesn't work

All screensavers work perfectly in the configure desktop screensaver window. When I test them out, all of them work fine. But when its time for the actual screensaver to kick in, all I get is a blank screen.

Help!

in the screensaver configuration, do you have the start screensaver automatically checked?

I'm using Red Hat 8, there's no checkbox that says start screensaver automatically... the "enable screensaver" box is checked. Also, I checked my power settings and there's no monitor shutoff so that cant be interfering.
