Angry KDE screen saver password problem

I just moved to RH 9.0 - KDE was running and the screensaver had been on for a couple of hours. I put in my user passwd and it said it was incorrect, I tried this a few times and got the same error. I even put in the root passwd and I couldn't get bac into the box so i had to do a hard shutdown and run fsck at boot time.

Anyone else have this issue? Is there a workaround/fix?

Are you sure you didn't have CAPS on or numlock off if you use numbers?

You could have just gone back to a console "Ctrl + Alt F1" and rebooted from there.
