Unhappy KDE refuses my login

I just moved my entire installation to another hard disk. The system boots fine and I can login on console. But KDE refuses to let me in. It just won't accept my password.

I had that problem once, lots of files had been changed to owner 5001 when I restored my backup, and I fixed it running 'chown -R luc /home/luc' but this time it's not working. What does KDE want anyway?

TIA

try chmod -R 755 /home/luc.This has worked for me when kde wont let me in.I also did the chown -R luc /home/luc.If I am upgrading my OS these steps are done after creating the "new" user which is my "old" user files from previous installation.

OK, I fixed it. The /tmp directory write access was blocked to ordinary users. Case closed.
