KDE messed up my machine?

i remembered i had installed KDE on my box, and so i decided to see what it was like. at first i liked how you could customize almost everything, where in gnome i found it hard to do so. such as the taskbar size and all that. anyways, KDE suddenly made my computer all crappy. stuff started not being able to be found, and then when i tried to restart it, it wouldnt even restart, it kept saying that my machine had been shut down uncleanly and would automatically (i couldnt stop it) go into system check over and over, never loading into the x windows login screen. so now i am in the process of reinstalling rh9, again.

so if anyone could tell me what's up with KDE, i would appreciate it.
