Cool KDE Menu Lost Icons

Hi!

The title explains it all really, there are Icons left under 'Favourites'; 'Computer etc. but the icons for all programs have vanished on both types of KDE menu. I've reinstalled everything it could possibly be likely to put them back (KDE Standard install included - plus, perhaps obviously it's menu etc.) but absolutely no joy.

For my sins I'm using Bodhi linux, which has been virtually useless ever since installation. It seems to want to fight at every opportunity, hence I eventually, after three days of hell, ripped out the dreaded 'enlightenment' desktop.

I've been using Linux since October 2005 and in that time I've used God knows how many distros and I would suggest that the reader leaves this one well alone - it's the most hopeless distro I've ever used. If you do install it then for heaven's sake don't try to change a thing for it will, most certainly bite you back very hard indeed.

Funny thing is that I hear that most people prefer Debs distros when I can honestly say that the bottom three in my case have all been debs, long live RPM distros say I.

I digress and rant unforgivanbly and thus I apologise, but I declare myself a damn sight more bonkers now than I was before I installed this hopeless creature that is Bohdi but bravely whip into to shape I will, even if they have to carry me out with arms and legs flailing madly all over the place. Such a pleasant pleasant Buddhist word, but all is Samsara here believe me.

God I'm really on the rant!

Thanks for your help and indulgence, which if you've read this far you have certainly given me.

Best Wishes to all.

Quiveringly insane F.K.

And you have done this ?

r-click on the kickoff icon click "unlock widgets " - if you locked them and it is a GOOD idea to do so .

click on "application launcher settings " and uncheck "show applications by name"
log out and back in

Hi!

I'm sorry for leaving it so long but I've been unwell. The icons on KDEs menu suddenly reappeared following a simple update so it seems, bit of an arbitary headscratcher but that's what appeared to happen.

I keep trying to reinstall Enlightenment but it refuses to be reinstalled as 'Mplayer2' and 'Mencoder' 'must not be updated' and they need to be, so that's that for now.

Eventually I decided on LXDE still on Bodhi Linux and that combination really flies. If only they would install LXDE as default over Enlightenment just until they really put the finishing touches to the latter then I would be saying what a wonderful distro this is. I've used LXDE before, it's always been quick, but this one really flies. Enlightenment shows great promose until it decides to start 'hitting you' but I'm sure they'll sort this out soon and we will all have yet another delightful desktop to add to our all ready brimming array.

With the obvious caveats I feel that I should now recommend Bodhi quote strongly. It's just a matter of doing what we all most like to do, tinckering with these things.

Best Wishes to All.
