KDE / MDK9.1 / X Login probs (amongst other things)
Well I have a really weird problem...
I was upgrading Qt so I could install Opera on my MDK9.1 installation and the install software program (comes with mdk9.1) told me that some other packages had to be upgraded before I could upgrade qt, so I clicked upgrade and it sais that it was uninstalling those packages so it could upgrade it (I thought, weird, but okay).
In the midst of the updating there hopped up an error, can't remember what it said, but basically it stopped updating and now I can't log on to KDE anymore.. I still have a vnc serverup and running so I have a desktop I can play with, but when I run things that require me to type in my root password, it just flashes the enter password prompt which dissapears a microsecond later and then it flashes what looks like the loading screen for the software installer and it dissapears.
everything related to the mdk stuff, like the mdk control center, install software, mandrake upate, sources amnager and such do the same thing.
I can still install rpm's for some weird reason which also asks me to type in my root password.
anyone have any words of wisdom for me?
right now i'm tracing the dependancies of Qt and gonna try n' reinstall them to see if it helps.
If I drop this VNC session I won't be able to log on and do much graphically, which would suck.
So any help is deeeply appreciated.
