KDE KickOff: cannot Clear Recent Documents

Hi all,
I'm running kde 4.6.5 on Debian Wheezy amd64 with a 3.0-3.dmz.1-liquorix-amd64 kernel. Recently I have been unable to clear recent documents from KickOff's "Recently Used" menu. Clear Recent Applications works perfectly normally but Clear Recent Documents does not. Right clicking on a listed recent document brings up the menu with the Clear Recent Document item but clicking on it has not effect. Likewise using the System Cleaner Sweeper and checking Recent Applications and clicking on "Clean Up" works normally. Doing the same with Recent Documents has no effect at all.

I've searched the forums on the KDE site and at LQ but failed to find a similar problem. Googling did not turn up anything either (keywords: kickoff "clear recent documents"). Any ideas would be most welcome. As I said this problem has only appeared within the last couple of weeks. Debian Wheezy is a rolling release so I am constantly getting updates to packages.
ciao,
jdk

I don't know what kickoff is but you could try starting it up from a virtual terminal and try to clear the recent docs. Maybe it'll spit out an error that can lead us to a solution.

You could also try looking in .local or .config to see if kickoff has a folder there. The history might be stored in a file. I know qeeqie does that. Then you check for permission problems or something. And you would be able to delete the history manually.

Thanks Gamma. KickOff is kde's menu system information. Typically it is accessed via a large "K" in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. The current problem is more of an annoyance than anything life-threatening. I have tried all the obvious things such as what you mentioned and after rebooting now the RecentDocuments item remains empty. This is not exactly how its supposed to work but it's somewhat less annoying. I'll wait for 4.7 which will solve all the world's problems.
ciao,
jdk

Just tried it on KDE 4.6.4. First time: right click => Clear Recent Documents actually cleared Recent Applications! Second time, it did what it was supposed to do.

Thanks Brian. Now it's stopped showing recent documents altogether. The Recent Applications work normally. Some things are just beyond human ken.
