KDE kdeinit launches two instances of Gkrellm

I am running the Gkrellm monitor and have KDE set to save the session on logout. When I try to log back in, kdeinit will start kwin, which launches the first instance of Gkrellm , then kdeinit launches a second instance of Gkrellm! I am sure of that order by looking at the assigned PID. In reading the documentation, kwin is responsible for session management, so why is kdeinit launching Gkrellm as well?

I started noticing this with gkrellm2, gkrellm1 was fine, havn't bothered looking for a fix yet though.
