kde help
I ran xorgsetup for slack. And it did a pretty good job with my video card, however for some reason I cannot make the title bars in kde smaller. The same goes for the start menu text etc.
Here is an image in case it helps. http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/41df7...OJa.CBJawCV1Vi Thanks |
Did you try adjusting the font settings? If you open the Control Center and go to Appearance and Themes and then select Fonts you can adjust the settings for the menu, window titles, desktop icons and more. If you make the font size smaller the space around it will become smaller, e.g. if your current menu font size is 12 and you change it to 10 the menu text, and the panes around it, will become a bit smaller. Also, some fonts are smaller than others. Try that too. For the window titlebars, try the same thing. Also, try different window decorations from the same Appearance and Themes menu. The default Keramic style is rather large and bulky. I personally like the one called KDE 2.

Thanks, changing the font size worked wonders. But I have one more problem. Every time I change my screen resolution in kde it never saves it always comes back to my maximum resolution size. Here is the output of my xorg.conf file if it helps.

I'm glad the font stuff worked for you. A couple of things you might change in your xorg.conf are
1) Move the DefaultDepth 24 lines to just before the Section "Screen" lines 2) For each Depth statement my xorg.conf (based on my old xfree86.conf) has a line that reads Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" I always set the first res in the Modes line to what I want to be default and never had to change it. If you're trying to chage it from within KDE (Control Center -> Peripherals -> Display) it may be a global setting that applies to all users. If so you would most likely have to be root in order for the changes to be saved. I tried to find the exact file on mine but didn't. If you want to browse your own files look in ~/.kde/share/config and also in /opt/kde/share/config unless you've installed KDE somewhere else. Read some of the *rc files and look for anything that might configure the desktop resolution. I'll keep looking in mine. It's got to be there somewhere. |
Putting the resolutions in xorg helped. Thanks
