Kde and xscreensaver not getting along
Ok so after quite a bit of messing around, searching here and bugs.kde.org I found out this so far. In kde 3.3, the xscreensavers do not get listed in the control center, only the kde screensavers do(as in they are the ones located in /opt/kde/bin as a *.kss file). I found that adding the user to the shadow group put the other screensavers back on the list, but I find that a bit strange having to do that. Or you can even edit the *.desktop file and take out the TryExec=xscreensaver, but who want to do that to all those files and whats the point anyways when they still dont run when the time comes. Only the kde screensavers will run. I have a gut feeling the problem is in the xscreensaver.kss file. Its a script and I'm not good with them. So if anyone has the guts, could anyone try to see whats wrong with it?
Just as info, i'm on Slackware 10 but this doesnt seem to be a slackware issue. I do have the Nvidia drivers in and all the 3d works great. This, as far as I can tell when it comes to actually having the screensaver run when the time comes, is not a permissions issue since I can run xscreensaver(-demo) just fine and do the same thing from the control center.
Any ideas?
