KDE 3.5 Search index creation error

I compiled kde from source, and when I go to the help centre it asks if I'd like to create a search index. When I try create one, it looks like it's starting (building index) but then it fails to create the index and says "KDE libraries are not designed to run with suid privileges"

Huh? So what do I need to do?

One more thing, when using Kate or Quanta, when I hit enter it doesn't begin the justification where the last line left off, ie I have to tab my way back to where I was, very annoying. What can I do to fix that?
