KDE 3.2: Protocol https not supported

hey guys.
ive installed KDE from source,

but kopete (part of KDE-network)
is not functioning correctly.

it seems it cannot login to the MSN network because 'Protocol https is not supported'

i also get the error in Konqueror web browser when attempting to use https.

so.... i uninstalled KDE-network, then installed openssl and openslp, then re-compiled KDE-network. but the problem remains !!!

what am i missing ?

(and no, installing from binary is not an option)
