KDE 3.1 Where is Mozilla icon?
OK, this is a stupid newbie question, but I installed SuSE 8.2 with KDE 3.1... I was logged in as root and installed Mozilla 1.4. It installed to /usr/local/mozilla and it works fine, but I cannot find an item to launch Mozilla anywhere on the "Start Applications" menu. Where the heck is it? Shouldn't the installer have added it?
Thanks. |
the simple answer...no
mozilla isnt going to check for every WM out there to see which one it should configure for especially when people change them often, also it wouldnt know where ont eh menu you would want it, youll have to make one of your own |
If you have SuSE 8.2 default menu you could try look it on:
"Start Applications" -> Internet -> WWW Sometime you need to execute SuSEconfig after installing application to have a shortcut (if provided with the app tho). Else right-click on "Start Applications" -> Menu Editor -> create your own shortcut and icon for the application ;-) |
A utility you might find helpful is a program
called KAppFinder. It will scan for many programs and add them to the menu automatically. You can launch it through Kmenu->Settings->KAppFinder Launch it. Click Scan. Check any programs you want to and to your menu. |
I could not find KAppFinder? I am running SuSE 8.2.

The location of KAppFinder for me is
/usr/kde/3.1/bin/kappfinder but yours may be different try $which kappfinder That should tell you if/where you have it It is part of the base KDE installation so you probably have it. If you have it you can just run it from konsole or the app launcher (press alt-f2) and type: kappfinder |
The simple way to do this is to go:
K-Menu|Settings|Menu Editor. Click the Internet option (or whereever you want the item to appear). Use Mozilla (Web Browser) for the name (you can change it, though). For the command, use mozilla. You can select an icon for mozilla by clicking on the blank piece of paper. Hope this helps. --Taj |
