KDE 2.2.2 network error

hi all

I'm hoping someone can help me, I'm (still!) trying to get KDE2.2.2 working, all is compiled + installed EXCEPT network. the configure script throws up no errors, but on running make I get the following errors

In file included from ksircprocess.cpp:111
/usr/include/stdlib.h:604:declaration of 'int setenv(const char *,const char *,int) throw()' throws different exceptions
../config.h:225:than prev declaration 'int setenv(const char *,const char*,int)'

/usr/include/stdlib.h:607:declaration of 'int unsetenv(const char *) throw()' throws different exceptions
../config.h:233:than prev declaration 'int unsetenv (const char *)'

make[3]: ***[ksircprocess.lo] Error1
make[2]:***[all-recursive]error1
make[1]:***[all-recursive]error1
make *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2

ANy advise will be much appreciated, I have recopied the tar file and uncompressed it incase some files were corrupt, but I get the exact same error
