KDB Issue in kernel debugging

I want to debug linux kernel using kdb with keyboard connected console. I have configured kgdboc after kernel booting using
"echo kbd > /sys/module/kgdboc/parameters/kgdboc"
After that I am doing
"echo g > /proc/sysrq-trigger"
But I am not getting kdb prompt to debug, please help.

I have followed instructions given in this link

Have you checked to make sure that file exists in the proc filesystem before invoking that command? What kernel version are you using? (uname -a).

According to kernel 3.7 stable Documentation/sysrq.txt the sysrq control file is located at /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq.

Use ls to determine it exists. When looking at 3rd party debugging documentation one should pay close attention to the version of the kernel the documentation is targeting.
