Kazaa is evil since it tries to block other clients from it's fasttrack protocol (IMHO). Why don't you go for a native linux client for a more usefriendly network?
Some of those are:
dcgui
mutella, gtk-gnutella
gift
Well, if all the "user friendly" file-sharing networks with linux clients didnt SUCK, that would be good advice.
So, until someone cracks Fast-Track... or a linux-friendly network becomes as extensive as Kazaa... how's about we stick to helping people get kazaa up and running through wine?
Incidently, i'm having the same problem as you are and i've yet to figure it out... i've tried several different versions of Kazaa Lite... am currently using 1.7.1, which is what's been suggested. If i figure it out i'll post here.
ok, if you are using slackware 9 kazaalite will NOT work with winex.
If you are using regular wine, make sure you have the dll's in the windows/sytem dir. The dll overides written in the config, and also the fake registry for kazaa. If these things are all in place kazaalite 1.7.2 will work practically flawless. Even speed up works. The 2 series dont work to good, alot of crashes for no reason.
Riley: Was looking at your error message and
Code:
Could not stat /mnt/fd0 (No such file or directory), ignoring drive A:
Could not stat /cdrom (No such file or directory), ignoring drive D:
You dont even have your config set up properly, thats not what is causing this but add the correct paths.
The very first thing you should try to run anything with wine is to execute winecheck.... which should be in the /tools folder of the wine source. It's probably gonna spit out all sorts of errors and tell you that you are at .00004% correctly configured, or something like that....
...look at the printout and investigate whatever errors are reported... you will probably have to correct your permissions for things like your floppy and cdrom and /dev/sequencer and whatever... as root type "chmod 666 /dev/fd0" for floppy, for instance... or /dev/sequencer , or whatever... also...
edit your config file in the ~/.wine directory. make sure that the references to your floppy and cdrom mount points are correct... like, i had to change mine from where it had /cdrom as my cdrom mount point to /mnt/cdrom.... just look carefully at what's being referenced.
umm, you are missing a shit load of .dll's aparently... so go get those from your windows install and put them in your fake windows/system folder... like ~/c/windows/system/ or whatever.
you can copy winedefault.reg from your wine source directory over to your fake /c directory and run "regedit winedefault.reg" and that should take care of that...
I had errors very similar to yours and i did all the above mentioned stuff and so far it's still shitting out on me, i think i'm getting somewhere... just more missing dll's that i'm too lazy to reboot into windows to get at this hour.... but yeah... pay close attention to your `/.wine/config file and run winecheck!
