KAudioCreator + OGG + High Bitrate

Sorry if this question has been asked, but I've searched here and on my best friend Google's site...

...After reading an article on KAudioCreator, I thought it would be nice to rip some of my CDs to OGG format. I'd heard it is better sound quality than MP3, which I am used to but have never really liked that much.

Anyway, when I ripped a few songs off a CD as a test, I noticed that I got a bitrate of 112Kbps. Using MP3 ripping I generally go for 160Kbps as a nice middle ground between size and audio quality.

Looking around I cannot find a setting to change the bitrate.

Is this not even an issue? I listened to the files at home and they seemed okay, but didn't compare them to - say 128Kbps MP3 files.

Assuming you are using KDE, you can set bitrate or "quality" in Control Center -> Sound and Multimedia -> Audio CDs -> Ogg Vorbis Encoder,

Hope that helps...

Cool, thanks!

Yep, KDE all the way. (Except when I have to downgrade to WinXP at work...)
