kaffeine.. sound and a blue screen
i got kaffeine installed. and it works as far as sound is concerned but ism only getting a blue screen where there should be video. ive tried mpeg and avi files, both with no luck. suggestions? thoughts?

You've to install the codecs. Personally, I've tried for days to get kaffeine to work, but without success, then I went back to mplayer and realized how great that media player actually is. I highly recommend you getting that one instead:

Make sure to read the documentation of mplayer before doing anything, or else you will get the blue screen again . Also, compile it from source.. rpm's and mplayer don't go hand in hand...

check in settings, the xine parameters option. on the gui tab there's a dropdown box with a list of video drivers to use. play with those. does xine work or does it exhibit the same behavior? kaffeine is just a frontend to xine, so if xine works, kaffeine should work.

success.. however confusing.. i opened it up to mess with the parameters and i didnt change anything, but now it works.. odd

i actually tried this earlier in the day before i went hunting for kaffeine. i couldnt find the font library it said i needed, and one other one i cannot recall right off
