Kaffeine sat scan

Hi

I've got Kaffeine running as root so that my Skystar2 card is recognised - Kaffeine wont see it as a User.

When I scan for channels (ie Astra sat) I get lock and 70%+ in SNR signal etc, but no channels get found.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Now for channels, I can't help you. But that about non-root users being unable to access the sound...it sounds like you've got a usergroup problem going on. As your normal user, open a terminal and type "groups" to find out what groups your user account is in. If you don't see the group "audio" in that list, you can add your user to the group by typeing "sudo gpasswd -a <user> audio". Of course, if sudo isn't set up you'll have to do this as root.

Thanks for your reply. I have to log in as root as my DVB device isn't recognised by Kaffeine unless I do - I guess it's something to do with permissions in the /dev files.

I'm just a bit perplexed because Kaffeine can get a lock on the satellite but no channels are found. Weird.

Sorted - changed permissions in /dev so a user can access and Kaffeine now sees DVB.

Also checked all options in scan channel window - getting channels now.
