kaffeine dual layer dvd playback
 

Running ubuntu hardy on my computer connected to the TV. I use this computer to play dvds on. When I play a dvd using kaffeine, the first hour plays without a hitch but when the disc switches to the second layer for subsquent hours of the film, I start to get stuttering.

The movie never stops playing but the stuttering does get annoying especially at the point of just after the layer switching.

Is there anything I can do to improve this?

Have you tried other players (mplayer maybe) to see if it still stutters?

I've had problems with dual layer but put it down to dvd drive or disk. Trying another player might shed some light.

I've never had problems.

do you have all the libdvd* libraries installed? Maybe your drive is dirty?
