Kaffeine and avi file

Hi.

I'm having trouble playing any AVI file with Kaffeine. The version of Kaffeine is 0.8.1, though I had the same problem with the older versions as well.

The problem is, playing back any AVI file causes the sound output to include unbearable noise. The noise makes the actual audio output totally incomprehensible. Kaffeine works just fine with other formats such as MP4, MOV and WMV.

Strangely, xine can play back the AVI files without any problem on the same system. I find that odd, as Kaffeine is supposed to use xine as its backend.

Does anyone else here have the same problem?

TIA,
Dai
