Not sure if you know this, but you must also have ide-scsi support for your kernel, either built in, or as modules.

If I remember correctly, the things you need are: "SCSI emulation support" (in the ATA/IDE/MFM/RLL support main menu) and "SCSI support" and "SCSI generic support" (in the SCSI support main menu).

As mentioned, either build them as modules, or build them directly into the kernel.

Thanks for the reply,

I didn't have to run the lilo command again cause when i opened the lilo.config file it already had the " hdc=ide-scsi" line in it , in the correct place.

I didn't know I had to have it kernel as well, So if you could tell me how to go about that cause I am a not so new "newb" at doing things like that with the kernel, actually, I will be getting mandrake 10.0 CE soon.

I am planning to wipe the hardrive and then install from scratch to get a nice clean installation, do you think it will have the same problem still?

thanks for the help

it might or it might not
it depends if that version of mandrake actually has it supported in the kernel i would think soo

whever you update your lilo.conf
you need to run #lilo
for changes to take affect
then reboot
this updates your MBR correct me if i am wrong...
anyways you still need to run that

thanks for the reply,

yes, you are right that i have to reboot if changes were made, but i didn't have to change anything cause the lines were already present in the file.

I think mdk 10.0, k3b doesn't need to have scsi emulation, it just works straight out the box...
