I have been trying to use k3b in KDE 3.2.3, and I have had luck - that is I burned an ISO, but I had to run k3b as root user to do it. If I don't, it doesn't find 'cdrecord' or 'cdrdao' programs in /usr/bin/ - yes, they are there.
It is strange. When I tryed to fix permissions using k3nsetup program, I had it change the group to 'burning' as it says. I then added my user name to that group. Then ran it again. No luck. Would not find cdrecord, or dao.
This is obviously a permission problem. When I run it (use menu editor) to run as root, everything works like a charm...
When I manually changed the permissions to 755 (cdrecord and cdrdao) it worked - that is it found the cdr programs.... but this isn't how it is suppose to run. Nor did I try to burn running it this way as I figured I would at the least probably waste a cdr disk.
k3bsetup changes the permissions to suid, and when i do that it defaults back to tthe original behavior. Anyone have any idea on how to get this thing working as a normal 'burning group' user????
PS this is how K3BSetup leaves the permissions when I run it:
Code:
bash-2.05b# ls -lak /usr/bin/cdr*
-rws--x--- 1 root burning 742 2004-06-07 06:26 /usr/bin/cdrdao
-rws--x--- 1 root burning 273 2003-08-17 19:38 /usr/bin/cdrecord
bash-2.05b#
(Anyway, thanks ahead of time for any help!)
