K3B not starting on Mandriva

To whom might be bothered,
can't get to access K3B on Mandriva even though it is supposed to be installed. Error message alludes to a fault in the 'distro' (2007 spring free) Have used general updates but not seen anyting relating to this. Anyone know of a fix and please keep it simple as am a relative newcomer.
Fred care.

Start a terminal e.g. konsole or gnome-terminal and enter the command "k3b" (without quotes). Post back any error messages.
