K3b not burning!

i got this message 4 times in a row with 4 different cds with 4 different isos! i used dao and iso9660 settings.

cdrecord returned an unknown error (code254)
Unknown error 254
Cdrecorded is not being run by root privileges
This influences the stability of the burning process.

how do i fix it? how do i run it from root? i am trying to burn the latest slackware.

PS, i am newbie. so dumb down the messages for me.

In K3B, Settings->K3B Setup <enter your root password> and just press Apply on new dialog. Thats it.

It is not possible to burn an ISO cd with K3B beeing a an ordninarie user on the Linux system. One way is to log in as root but you can as well temporarily change owner of the file /dev/hdd, default beeing root, to your own identity. This will automatically change back to root when the system is rebooted.
