K3B locked files

Can someone point me in the right direction.....? I'm trying to burn a CD in k3b using mandrake 10.1 (smp kernel 2.6.8.1-12) and a Sony DVD/CD burner.

My problem is that I run through the setup bit and then try to drag and drop data files to the project. As soon as I do this, there is a padlock on the icon of everything I drop into the project window and nothing is burnt onto the disk.

Frustratingly it happens when I open k3b as a User or as Root, so I cannot see where permissions are a problem.

Any thoughts? Cheers.

I get a padlock on every file I drag there too, and I've managed to burn quite a few CDs with K3B, so that isn't a problem. Make sure you de-select "Simulate" in the "Burn"-dialog, as K3B EITHER simulates OR actually writes, it doesn't do both at the same time.

Thanks for the reply, but so far I've burnt three coasters and 'simulate' was off all the time. It starts to go through the burn process, but when it goes to start the actual burn, it just skips it and says burn successful - as if there was no data to burn in the first place.

Ok ... What happens when you only simulate a write, does it also act like that? Is there anything suspicious in the debug output that's available at the end of the burn process?
