k3b in redhat 9.0

I installed the source tar file and am running k3b, However every time I try to burn a cd, it gives me the error that I havent inserted a blank disc, which I just pulled off a new spindle.

Is this due to the fact that my cd burner is a dvd cd-rw combo drive?
