k3b image file to audio cd?
 

Hi all,
I was copying a cd using k3b when my writer failed, so I saved my cd as an .img file and .toc file saved to disk. How do I now recreate it as an audio cd to my new writer?

Just try burning the cd again... simple as that.

I know nothing about k3b, but try renaming the .img file to .bin, and the .toc file to .cue. .img and .toc are Windows embrace and extend features.

as a way of getting this current question answered., and has closed the other thread.
Just because he can close a thread, surely doesn't give him the right to do so on an assumption. As I said in it, over 5 different forums, and 700 views, I had 0 replies. This in spite of the fact that I am trying desperately to learn linux. While I agree that my question on here may not have been perhaps as clear as it could have been, the outright arrogance of XavierP in making such an assuption beggars belief. I was mearly pointing out that I had perhaps asked a question to which there was no answer. Anything would have been better than having the thread closed.
As to the question in this thread, I am willing to try anything. Just because I wrote the image file with K3b, doesn't mean I am not willing to try other re-writing methods, including the CLI if I have to, after all, I am willing to learn.

So for XavierP: remember, the mind, and this forum is like a parachute, it works much better when it's open, and if you assume something then it only makes an ASS of U and ME.

Sorry to rant on, but I think I have now made my point.

And this is where you're argumentation falls over ...

This board is paid for and run by Jeremy, and he and the mods
can basically do whatever they feel like. You're "freedom of speech/act"
idea won't work when you visit somebody else's home (or go to another
country). You're (in case of the home it's limited by certain laws you'd
both abide to) in their jurisdiction. And that aside, Xavier was perfectly
correct to tell you off and close the other thread.

Re XavierP -- I think a courteous email to him/her correcting the assumption might have better results. We all have fragile egos that need to be stroked, else we wouldn't be working so hard to fix other people's problems. For example, your specific k3b problem struck my fancy, so I spent 30 minutes this morning searching for possible solutions -- and I run Slackware, not Mandrake and have never seen k3b in action. Your acknowledgement stroked my ego and gave me good feelings, even if my suggestion doesn't work, and gives me encouragement to keep looking until the problem is solved. I also learned something about burning audio CD's that I'll probably use in the next few months.

I'm thankful that someone has taken the time to design this site and provide the equipment and bandwidth at no charge so that we may collaborate. I don't know the site's policy on cross-posting among forums (I'm guilty -- I haven't read the FAQ yet), but most people frown on cross-posting, even in an attempt to increase exposure.

I understand your feelings and your need to vent. I probably would have felt the same way in the same circumstances. However, over the years (and there have been more than I care to count), I have learned that it is better to wait until my blood pressure has returned to normal before reacting. By then, I am usually able to figure out what I want to gain by my response and compose it accordingly. Very seldom do I really want to just blindly strike out or make someone else angry or hurt, or even make the harm done to me public.

One of the first documents I read after connecting to the 'net (back in '93) was the HOWTO-Netiquette. This is a great big family we're building, with hundreds of cultures. Netiquette is an essential means of bonding all of us together. I consider everyone within these forums as my friend, and try my best to treat them as such at all times, even when they piss me off. Afterall, I depend on them to fix problems too difficult for my feeble intellect.

Back to your problem, 'how to write .img and .toc files to CD/RW', please post the results of your efforts. I'll keep looking and together we'll find a fix and publish it for others' benefit. This is what makes Linux fun!

However, whatever I try seems to be to no avail, and now after trying for the last hour or more with cdrdao from the command line, my .toc files have finally become corrupted and are now being identified as C++ files of 3.9 Kb, and are empty of any info.
Hey ho, I suppose that one day this problem will be solved. Until then, back to the drawing board, with no .img files transfered back to there origional audio format.

With my k3b it's the extras or tools menu, where I can open various image formats for burning.
