Question K3B fails to burn

When attempting to burn a Video DVD (not an image, just the VIDEO_TS files) in K3b using a Video CD project, K3b will detect the write speed of the burner, then it will sit there. The GUI looks very pretty, is very responsive, and doesn't crash, but all the progress bars sit at 0% save for the Buffer information, which simply says "No Data."

Tried running K3b as root, that doesn't help any. Except the GUI is uglier, because root isn't configured with a pretty theme/style.

Tried burning a normal CD-R with it, and that works just fine. (Tried that as a normal user.)

Running Gentoo on Kernel 2.6.10. If there's any particular output that would be helpful, feel free to ask. All the relevant output I've got from K3b itself so far is:

It won't make you feel any better but I have precisely the same problem in SuSE (9.2). This is on a machine that I have burned over 600 dvd's on so I am fairly sure the hardware is ok. Near as I can figure, one of my recent upgrades via apt did it. The problem is determining which one.
