Question K3B Error

OK - K3b is giving me an error as you see below.

http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/7969/k3b5pm.png

Now when I click on the "K3bSETUP2" button, it prompts me for the "root" password which is fine however then the setup window loads and it's blank. I keep waiting for it to populate the data on the window and it remains blank. I can click close on the blank window but there is no setup. Is there any other way to resolve this?

Please help!

Have you tried logging into KDE from KDM (or a root shell) as root and then running k3bsetup?

I am unable to login to KDE as root. It says I can't for some reason...

Then I login as my one and only "SHELL" user and open konsole with the following:

Code:
carlos@workstation:~$ su -
Password:
workstation:~# k3b
ERROR: KUniqueApplication: Can't determine DISPLAY. Aborting.

You can enable root logins to kde by editing the kdmrc file, in debian I believe it is in /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc

Look for a line that says AllowRootLogin=false and change it to AllowRootLogin=true then logout of kde and restart X (Crtl Alt Backspace)

For security reasons, once you have k3b setup correctly it would be a good idea to undo those kdmrc changes.
