K3B crashes!
 

Hi,

I was using succesfully K3b with Mdk 9.2 until I upgraded it to 10.1.

I can open the software, choose the files to burn but when I want to burn the application crashed and the console shuts with the signal 1.

I tried several times to uninstall and install again k3b but the problem remain the same even with older versions of k3b

Please, HELP!!

i don't know if this will help
i'm using the same kernel 2.6.8.1
tried using the ide cdrom interface to burn cd's the way the kernel developers say
it sucked big time and i mean big time.
got wrong configuration info from the drive (thought it was a dvd drive when it's not)
crashed by running out of memory (bad buffer overflow ?)
got it to write audio cd dao once without crashing (quite a triumph) and the disk was half speed on playback.
geez
switched to the old scsi emulation layer and the thing works perfectly..
so i say switch to the ide-scsi interface (boot parameter hdc=ide-scsi )
i wish those kernel developer guys would get their heads out of their egos and realize the
Solaris guy (Shilling i think his name is ) the creator of cdrtools is right about this stuff.
i keep seeing this message on boot
"ide-scsi is deprecated for cd burning! Use ide-cd and give dev=/dev/hdX as device...."
why don't those guys give us all a break on this one ?
they say scsi emulation is ugly cause Shilling doesn't kiss their a$$ and thinks Linux sucks.
but what could be more ugly than what they have created in it's place ?
