k3b: cannot burn DVD as normal user
hi all,
i'm using k3b and i can perfectly burn both CD and DVD as root user.
however, as normal user, i can only burn CDs, as i get the following error when burning DVD:
unable to PREVENT MEDIA REMOVAL: Operation not permitted
anyone has a clue? this is driving me mad.
FYI: i'm running slack 10.1 with kernel 2.6.10.
thanks...
aj.

don´t know a solution for slack, but as far i can remember at the 1st start of k3b there comes a question, if "user-burning" shall be allowed!?
something in the k3b-setup options or googled for it?
if nothing works try to make a new group ´burning´, include the useraccount to this group and allow the ´burning´ group to execute k3b.

I had a simmilar problem too, how I resolved it was (I was using kde) and I changed the entry in the menu editor to open the program as a different user, tyed root into the user field and then had to log in as root whenever the program opens, its not perfect, but it does work

With slack, I don't know... but in SuSE 9.2 (x little_penguin), just edit the file
/etc/udev/permission.d/50-udev.permission
(or something like it... Now I'm at work, with WinXP...)
Add (or modify if already exists) the line
hdd*: username:disk:600
"hd d*" was my case but, obviously, it could be different for you...
This is not the only way, I suppose... but works very well
