Unhappy K3b burning problem

Hi
I am relatively new to the Linux community, but like many others I am enjoying the experience, but need to replicate everything I do in windows in Linux before totally converting. I am trying to burn a DVD Video (from TS_VIDEO struture that exists - created from devede) using K3b, but it starts and then falls over saying that the device is trying to become ready. I have LITE-ON DVD re-writer that works fine in windows. Any help would be appreciated as I am really keen to bin Windows in favour of Linux. Please see the K3b Log Below:

I may have missed it, but what distro, version, and arch are you running(F8-64bit, etc).

You might try burning at 4X rather than 8x.

The other thing you might try is generating the ISO before you go to K3b.

mkisofs -dvd-video -udf -o /destination/dvd.iso /source//

I am using Kubuntu 8.1 (well I actually installed Ubuntu 8.1 but installed and swithed to the KDE 4.1 desktop) 32-bit. I will try burning at 4X and let you know how I get on.
Thanks for the advice. I am a relative newbie but already hooked on the whole Linux Thing.

Hi

I tried burning at 4X and still no joy. I am wasting DVD's at a rate of knots now.
Any other suggestions that may help here? Or is there another App that may get me past the DVD Video burning stage.
Thanks
Ian

You might pick up a DVD+RW until you get this figured out.

Did you try building the ISO before using K3b? Usually if K3b will not work nothing will.
