From what I read about k3b yesterday, it doesn't like kernels less than 2.6.11, so your only solution is to upgrade your kernel. Running k3b as root may also work.

I installed my debian testing with kernel 2.6 series.. and I think it even has upgraded it further too through apt-get... and running k3b as root make it freeze totally... when I try to search for cd-rw devices, it halts mane seconds, and comes with an error where it says that it cannot unlock cd-device..
I have dpkg-reconfigure discover1 and it works fine.. but just not the k3b to unlock the drive..
what can I do ??
I have it worked last installation.. (I reinstalled my HDD..)

Hi,
was your cdrom/cdrom mounted prior to burning?
If so, see whether it helps if you "umount /dev/hdc" then try burning the cd again.
Cheers

Hi. I had that problem of an unfinished burn of an iso image yesterday. A few weeks ago was the first time I'd run K3b, and ran the seup for it before burning the FC3 iso's. No problems with the burn. Yesterday after DL'ing the first FC4 iso, I went to burn it with K3b. Problems. Burn wouldn't complete. It appeared that permissions needed to be changed for the cd writer, and the other 2 programs that K3b uses, so I ran the setup again, and this time the burn went ok. It looks like the permissions are being changed back when you reboot the machine, meaning that you need to run K3b's setup before using it, if you have rebooted the machine since you last used K3b. Incidentally, this was on Debian Sarge. Nigel. aka farpoint.
