K3b and libmad

I installed the newest version of k3b-0.10.3, on this box running RedHat 9.0 and when I did the ./configure it said that I didn't have libmad so on the fly mp3 to wav encoding isn't supported. But I have libmad, I installed the libmad-0.15.0b-3.fr.i386.rpm sometime before I installed k3b. I really would like to burn mp3's to a audio file with out having to convert them with something else. So what can I do to get this to work? K3b does burn data files nice but my car stereo won't do mp3's and I don't wanna keep moving stuff to the windows machine cuz' I'm almost weened off of windows now. Thanks for any help! It's appreciated.

Hmm. I had this problem too. I tried loads of things and one of them worked. First of all I would check that the ./configure can't find any version of libmad (i.e. your libmad is a high enough version). Then find out where libmad is installed and make sure that the path is in your /etc/ld.so.conf.
If you still don't have any joy then you may want to make sure that the kdemultimedia package corresponding to your version of kde is installed. If not then install it. If you installed KDE from source and couldn't get kdemultimedia to work due to problems with cdparanoia (like me), then go into the source tree of kdemultimedia do ./configure, find the mp3 relevant parts and go into those directories and do "make install" to just install the mp3 relevant sections.
Then try and install k3b
Hope this helps
